Dr Mark Sillender

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mark is an experienced consultant obstetrician & gynaecologist with specialist O&G practice in obstetrics & gynaecology in the UK & Australia from 1997 onwards.
Mark graduated from the University of Edinburgh medical school in 1993. In 1999 he was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and was appointed to the Oxford higher specialist training program in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He won a Best Teacher award from the University of Oxford medical school in 2003. He was awarded the UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in obstetrics & gynaecology by Oxford, the RCOG and the UK Specialist Training Authority in 2004.
After completing specialist training, Mark spent several years as a consultant obstetrician & gynaecologist at London’s Chelsea & Westminster hospital. Whilst there he had particular responsibility for minimal access gynaecologic surgery, reproductive endocrinology, labour ward management, obstetric medicine, high risk obstetrics, and the multiple pregnancy service. He delivered postgraduate surgical & obstetric training to London-circuit specialist trainees, and undergraduate education to the students of Imperial College.
Following his move to Australia in 2007, Mark was one of the two obstetrics & gynaecology specialists at Kaleeya hospital, Fremantle. In his 5 years there, he played a leading role in the development of Kaleeya as a safe and effective public maternity service with excellent ACHS indicators. He also provided a large amount of gynaecologic surgery (mainly keyhole surgery), colposcopy & other services. This Fremantle service then moved to Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Mark has been in private practice in Perth since 2012, mainly based at Glengarry Private Hospital.
As well as his private obstetrics & gynaecology practice at Glengarry Private Hospital, Mark has an appointment as a consultant fertility specialist in Perth’s Monash fertility centre, where he provides advanced fertility consultations & treatments & procedures including IVF. He is also developing innovative medical devices for use in improving fertility & drug delivery with several patents awarded.
Mark is a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, is accredited by RANZCOG in colposcopy, and holds accreditation at RANZCOG level 5 in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys sports, hiking, cultural activities, and spending time with his family.
Michelle Alton

Practice Manager
Michelle has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, pregnancy & births. She is a Registered Nurse and Midwife, with Diploma & Graduate Diploma training at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth. Her grandchildren keep her very busy outside of work. Her family & clinical experience mean she has a high level understanding of patients’ concerns and needs. Her clinical acumen adds an extra dimension to the administrative service we offer our patients.
Michelle has extensive experience in setting-up and managing O&G and general medical practices. She is a member of the Australian Association of Practice Managers. She was honoured in their national Practice Manager of the Year awards, recognising her ability, professional development and commitment to the profession.
Elaine Faraone
Senior medical receptionist
Elaine is a friendly, caring, qualified & very experienced medical receptionist. Out of work she is a busy mum of three children. She is an avid reader & movie-goer. She is a member of the Hike Collective and is often to be found in the WA bush. She volunteers for the Cancer Council. Elaine’s caring and empathetic manner is an important support to our patients through their journey through fertility treatment, pregnancy or back to health.
Leanne Gath
Senior medical receptionist
Leanne is a very experienced medical receptionist, who holds the AMA medical reception qualification. She is friendly, helpful, understanding & compassionate, and this ensures an outstanding level of patient care. Outside the office, Leanne is a keen AFL fan.
Michelle, Elaine or Leanne will always be present for examinations and procedures, providing assistance with equipment and plenty of reassurance.
