1. Safety & choice

Safety is the top concern for most women and all obstetric specialists. A specialist obstetrician & gynaecologist optimises safety & choice. An ob can deal with most eventualities in your labour & birth. We have research-based strategies to give you the best chance of achieving your aim and hopefully avoid problems.

2. Continuity of care

An obstetrician offers the ultimate in continuity of care for women needing maternity care. Medical issues during pregnancy can often be sorted easily. All choices/needs – natural birth, vaginal birth with epidural, induced birth, Casearean section birth, instrumental birth (all types) – can be chosen/used & then optimised & completed by the same obstetrician, without referring to or waiting for anyone else to take over the maternity care. If complications arise during labour then immediate action is taken without the need to seek referral. Fertility management & treatment, aftercare with contraception and management of any gynaecological issues (life-long) can all be offered without the need to see anyone else.

3. Staff

Our practice staff are dedicated to trying to achieve the best possible outcome for you, both emotionally and physically. Our warm, friendly award-winning practice manager, Michelle, is a long-established Perth-registered nurse and midwife. She is an ambassador for the Australian practice manager peak body. Elaine & Leanne, our receptionists, are  local mums & are warm, friendly & experienced.

4. Joondalup Private Hospital, Perth

Joondalup Private Hospital is a small & friendly unit within the campus, with deluxe rooms available. Joondalup Private Hospital is very near to the Mitchell freeway & Marmion. The rooms are spacious.

6. Parking

Parking is free & easy at the rooms.

7. Ultrasound

We have a high quality ultrasound scanner in the rooms linked to a flat screen so you can see how baby is looking & bond at each appointment.

Gynaecology care

1. Friendly & warm care

It is very important to have a relaxed, friendly, supportive & respectful team looking after you, when you have gynaecology problems, or are thinking about gyno surgery. We aim to form strong therapeutic relationships with our patients, and address all concerns. You can read our reviews on Google to see how we do.

2. Gynaecologic keyhole surgery

If you’re having gynaecologic surgery, minimal access (keyhole surgery) techniques are almost always used to enhance your comfort and reduce complications & recovery time. Dr Sillender holds advanced RANZCOG Level 5 accreditation in keyhole surgery techniques of laparoscopy & hysteroscopy.

3. Quality of equipment

We have a very comfortable environment in the rooms to try & reduce anxiety. We maintain high quality equipment in the rooms to optimise care. Our couches are electrically controlled. Equipment is warmed. We have a high quality colposcope & ultrasound scanner. We use an electronic record in an optimal fashion to ensure a good record, but without affecting face to face contact. We also keep paper records as a backup.

4. Specialist anaesthetist

We have a lovely specialist anaesthetist, Bree who has excellent outcomes. Our patients often remark upon her warm demeanour and their rapid recovery.

5. Surgical outcomes

We’re completely happy to discuss our specific surgical outcomes/complication rates.

6. Parking

Parking is free & easy, both for the rooms & the hospital. Important when family is visiting (or when you’re running late!)
