1. Safety & choice
Safety is the top concern for most women and all ob specialists. A specialist obstetrician & gynaecologist optimises safety & choice. An ob can deal with most eventualities in your labour & birth. We have research-based strategies to give you the best chance of achieving your aim and hopefully avoid problems.
2. Continuity of care
An obstetrician offers the ultimate in continuity of care for women needing maternity care. Medical issues during pregnancy can often be sorted easily. All choices/needs – natural birth, vaginal birth with epidural, induced birth, Casearean section birth, instrumental birth (all types) – can be chosen & then optimised & completed by the same obstetrician, without referring to anyone else to take over the woman’s maternity care. If complications arise during labour then immediate action is taken without the need to seek referral. Fertility management & treatment, aftercare with contraception and management of any gynaecological issues can all be offered without the need to see anyone else.
3. Midwife continuity of care
As well as obstetrician continuity of care, we offer midwife continuity of care as well. Glengarry Private Hospital now has the Know My Midwife program, where you can opt to have free midwife appointments with one of our team midwives before the birth. That same midwife will then come in for the birth & also help with care afterwards. This program is unique in Perth.
Our own practice staff are dedicated to trying to achieve the best possible outcome for you, both emotionally and physically. Our warm, friendly award-winning practice manager, Michelle, is a long-established Perth-registered nurse and midwife. She is an ambassador for the Australian practice manager peak body. Elaine, our receptionist, is a local mum & is warm, friendly & experienced.
